Livetech is a student run, not-for-profit computer repair and recycle service, supporting organisations across the Yorkshire region to address their IT recycling and repair requirements.

 

In January 2007, the Environment Agency introduced the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive which regulates the proper disposal of all UK business WEEE.

Unlike many recycling organisations, Livetech prides itself on providing an ethical approach to computer recycling. Rather than dismantling and shredding equipment collected, Livetech aims to re-build and re-use it, ultimately prolonging its life span.

 

Livetech currently works with a number of community organsiations across the Yorkshire area, providing them with refurbished IT equipment.

 

Livetech ensures all hard drive data is wiped through a complete 8-pass DBAN wipe and all

redundant equipment is disposed of in accordance with new WEEE directives.
